Dear Water District:
Mr. Steven Levy of the Maine Rural Water Association
called today expressing your concern about future water
levels on Anasagunticook Lake. The new owner of the dam
(State I.D. No. 176), Gary Richards, has told us of his
interest to generate power at this dam. He has not made
formal application for a license and according to our
Hydropower Coordinator is at least six months away from
being able to do so. He already knows that a Water Level
has been established for the lake by the Soil and Water
Conservation Commission (see enclosed copy) and that he
must deal with it in his plans.
Also enclosed is a copy of the September 1983 Maine Dam
Inspection Regulation and Abandonment Act for your
information.
